Speaker’s Bio: 

Dr. DeRight is a clinical and forensic neuropsychologist in independent practice, with experience evaluating individuals in capital cases. He earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Syracuse University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and is Board Certified (Diplomate) in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. DeRight is licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, and holds credentials through the PSYPACT Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and Temporary Authorization to Practice (TAP) programs, and he performs evaluations around the country. He serves as a Clinical Professor of Psychology at The George Washington University, is an approved forensic examiner for competency and sanity evaluations in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and sits on Virginia’s Forensic Evaluation Oversight Panel, reviewing competency and sanity reports submitted by evaluators statewide. Dr. DeRight chairs the AI Subcommittee of the Professional Affairs and Ethics Committee for the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychology, and is a qualified Baseline Assessment Program (BAP) provider for the NFL Concussion Settlement Program and an approved evaluator for the NCAA Concussion Medical Benefits Settlement Program. He has been qualified as an expert witness in state and federal courts in both retained and court-appointed capacities.
