In every state, mitigation specialists are striving to unearth the full, complex life histories of their clients. These individuals are the guardians of their clients’ dignity in a system that too often ignores their humanity. The details that mitigation specialists uncover can change the course of a client’s life, transform their defense, and lead to dramatically different outcomes.
Each year, Advancing Real Change, Inc. recognizes two mitigation specialists with our annual awards: the Muhammad-White Award, which honors a mitigation specialist whose body of work has profoundly advanced the field of mitigation, and the Emerging Leader Award, which is given to a mitigation specialist who represents the future of the profession. These awards are given to mitigation specialists who are transforming the profession and fighting for their clients every day. Read more about our awards here.
