Alicia Amezcua-Rodriguez
Alicia Amezcua-Rodriguez has represented individuals facing the death penalty since 2004. She is currently a program attorney with the Mexican Capital Legal Assistance Program and resource counsel for the Texas Regional Habeas Assistance and Training program. She is also a bilingual and bicultural mitigation specialist, specializing in developing mitigation evidence in capital cases involving foreign nationals.
Ms. Amezcua-Rodriguez graduated from New York University School of Law in 1998. Upon graduation, she received a two-year Soros Criminal Justice Fellowship. As a Soros Fellow, she implemented a project at the Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Division aimed at enhancing the representation of juveniles facing delinquency charges in New York State Family Court. From 2001-2004, she served as law clerk to the Honorable Judith Lieb in New York State Criminal Court.
Bridget Prince
Bridget Prince has worked as a private investigator for over 20 years, specializing in international investigations for criminal defense, human rights and public interest cases. She has carried out complex international investigations in countries such as Algeria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Haiti, Indonesia, India as well as numerous European countries. Bridget started her mitigation work on death penalty cases in California at the Habeas Corpus Resource Centre, and since then has gone on to assist legal teams at trial or on appeal with the planning and carrying out of international mitigation investigations. She has assisted with locating and interviewing family members and other witnesses, collecting court, educational and medical records, and identifying cultural experts in countries such as Somalia, Kenya, Yemen, Lithuania, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Libya and Turkey. Her work has contributed to successful appeals, a life verdict and the dropping of the death penalty prior to trial.
