Register for the Mitigation in Second Look Cases Training, which will be held on Thursday, August 6, at ARC’s Baltimore office. Criminal defense practitioners in Maryland and the surrounding region are invited to join us for a day of discussion and skill-building focused on best practices for conducting mitigation investigations in preparation for relief under Maryland’s Second Look Act and other regional post-conviction review statutes or sentencing modification efforts.
This training is designed for defense practitioners across the mid-Atlantic at all experience levels who are currently handling or interested in taking on sentence modification and other post-conviction matters, and who want to develop or strengthen the skills needed to effectively investigate and present their clients’ life histories.
The sessions will focus on perspectives and approaches from across the DMV (Washington DC-Maryland-Virginia) region. Topics include Second Look Cases: Locally, Regionally, and Nationally; Defense Victim Outreach; Records Development; Reentry Planning, and additional topics focused on building strong mitigation in post-conviction advocacy. See the agenda here.
Faculty includes experienced defenders from the mid-Atlantic region with experience in representing clients in sentencing modifications, Second Look cases, and parole hearings.
