2026 Baltimore Seminar

Mitigation as the Standard: Strengthening Justice Advocacy

This year’s Baltimore Seminar brings together practitioners committed to embedding mitigation as a core element of effective, client-centered defense practice. Designed as a primer and refresher for defense team members and sentencing advocates with limited exposure to mitigation investigation, the training focuses on building and strengthening the foundational knowledge needed to support consistent, high-quality advocacy.

Through engaging sessions led by mitigation experts, participants will explore core practices that establish or elevate mitigation as a standard component of representation. Attendees will deepen their understanding of foundational mitigation approaches and how to apply them in real-world settings to reinforce impactful practices and improve case outcomes. Session topics include Why Mitigation Matters (Especially Now), Establishing and Maintaining Client Relationships, Crafting Persuasive Mitigation Narratives, and more. View the full agenda here

This training is free to attend. Lunch will be provided.

The registration deadline is 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 24. Registration is required to attend. On-site registration is not available. Capacity is limited to 50 people.

Please note that this seminar will be held in person only; it will not be streamed or recorded.
