2025 Jacksonville Conference: Reducing Harm Through Mitigation/ Strength in Unity

ARC, Inc. provides this and other trainings at no cost to current and prospective defense practitioners. We do this to eliminate as many barriers to high-quality mitigation training as possible. Although the training is free, attendees are responsible for costs associated with participation such as travel, meals, and accommodations.

Registration for this training is limited to defense practitioners and advocates, including defense attorneys, mitigation specialists, fact investigators, paralegals, justice advocates, and students planning to practice criminal defense or advocacy.

Poverty is a prevalent theme in many client narratives, often overshadowing its distinct impact on their lives. This webinar will delve into deficit ideology and the systemic factors sustaining poverty, particularly the educational challenges stemming from the intersection of poverty, race, and class. Participants will gain insight into recognizing the manifestations of poverty in client life stories and acquire tools to help articulate a more inclusive understanding of experiences, enhancing their advocacy efforts. This training is for public defenders and their teams with a Non-Capital Homicide Case, likely to go to trial. It will help you explore the depths of your own case and examine it. The conference will be held at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, Best Western PLUS Wilkes Barre Center City, 77 East Market Street Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18701 and runs from Monday, February 5th, 2024 through Thursday, February 8th, 2024, all day, in person. It will offer approximately 24 hours of free CLE credits for Public Defenders. Information about accommodations is below. Day 2 of the conference will heavily weight in on the evidence of your case and forensic issues. It may be helpful to bring a case that has a crucial forensic component but is not required.
